|The Zululand Brewery is a South African beer company founded in 1997 by the Chennells family. Based out of the old shed behind the George Hotel in Eshowe, Zululand where its beers are available on tap at the hotels bar called The Pablo Esco Bar. Zululand covers an area of about 30 000km2 on the east coast of South Africa stretching from the Tugela River in the south to the Pongola river in the north. After the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 Eshowe was established as the capital of Zululand and the towns original water supply was on main street where the brewery and hotel are based today. The brewery is the smallest on the Kwa-Zulu Natal Brew Route. All of our natural ingredients are from South Africa and abroad creating a perfect recipe of barley, wheat and hops to create the right taste and aroma we want from our hand crafted beers. The brewery is no stranger to JDW Festivals with its Zulu Blonde beer brand. Now the little power house is bringing you ZULULAND PALE ALE. Enjoy.
New to Chartwell Drive, Umhlanga, (where Pintxada Restaurant used to be) The Zululand Brewing Company (ZBC) is welcoming guests for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check out their tasty menu including breakfast, steak, wraps, salads, bunny chows, gourmet burgers, tapas, desserts and a kiddies menu. The restaurant is sure to be a favourite for after work drinks with their newly introduced “Happy Hour” from Mondays to Fridays (4:30 to 6pm). Available on tap at ZBC you’ll find Tapanga Gold Rum Mixer and Gin Gin I Love You Mixer from the Zululand Distillery, Zululand Pale Ale and of course their flagship beer the Zulu Blonde…
The design is cool and quirky but cosy with a stylish look. Expect contemporary Zulu design with fabrics designed in Zululand, traditional textures, artefacts and colours bringing in 19th Century Zululand architecture. Italian black and white floor tiles, giant Zulu earplugs, a hand drawn map of Zululand, paddle fans and Oregon Pine cladded counters and surfaces. Memory Boxes filled with Zululand mythology and small historical artefacts along with old clocks and the Zulu Blonde “Legend” and “Heritage” art collaborations all creating wonderful talking points and making every inch of the restaurant instagrammable.
