|Why Doctrine Brewing? What is the doctrine? What does it all mean? These are questions I often receive, and it’s not a simple answer.
When running a brewery there are many issues that will drive a brewery’s decisions. When worrying about sales it’s easy to think about trying to make your beers as accessible as possible. When you start buying your ingredients, it’s very easy to start thinking about how to reduce those costs. And then there is that constant desire to increase production so you can increase sales. Simply put, profit before purpose.
At times like this it is important to remember the things we stand for. Beer that is original, that doesn’t taste like every other beer made by every other brewery. Quality ingredients are not negotiable, and while something cheaper might be almost as good, it is not as good. If you try to please everyone, you’ll end up exciting no one.
